The wise women . . .

Today’s news
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you.”

When I don’t know what to say or what to do, when fear feels like it’s about to consume my body, the place I must go is to God, in his word and on my knees.  On most every day I start in His Word, in his scripture and messages for us.  “ For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;  it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”               -Hebrews 4:12,13

Today I spent time in Proverbs 14 I have been struggling with my own foolishness lately. Especially the way I spend my money foolishly and unwisely. I hate myself for it and I struggle with changing my actions. It is an outright battle waging within me.  I pray and cry out to God to make it easy, but even as I pray that I know that would not be wise of him.  Not if my heart needs to be changed.  The first sentence in proverbs 14, as the scriptures often do, penetrated my heart today.  It echoed the voice of God in my heart and mind from yesterday. Yesterday he was talking to me about good reasons to turn from my foolishness.
(Ok, side thought here.  The more time we spend in His word the louder his voice becomes in our hearts and minds, and the louder it gets the clearer it becomes.) Soon we not only hear his voice, but we see it as well. This morning when went to read the daily scripture on my bible app Proverbs 14 was the echo of the on going conversation He and I have been having. Here it is.

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.  He whose walk is upright fears the Lord, but he whose ways are devious despises him. A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them. Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox comes an abundant harvest.  A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies. The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning. Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips. The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright. Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy. The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish. There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief. The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good man rewarded for his. A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps. A wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated. The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.  Evil men will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous. The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends. He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy. Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness. All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.  The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.  A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful. He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.  A large population is a king's glory, but without subjects a prince is ruined.  A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.  He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.  When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge. Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant incurs his wrath.           -Proverbs 14:1-35

I’m Starting something New!

It’s About Listening.

Today’s news First things first! It’s Monday morning, the beginning of the work week. It’s another start to something.  Our life is full of starts and finishes. We start a new week, we start a new weekend, we start a new day, we start a new pot of coffee =0), we start a new load of laundry and so on and so forth. With all these starts there are a whole lot of opportunities to add a conversation, a prayer to our God.  I love this idea, in all the starts of each day, that I would acknowledge Him and lift a prayer or remember something He has said in His word. Or, in that moment of start I could worship Him or thank Him. I’m going to challenge myself with this, and I’m going to challenge all of you to the same, and remember there are always new places to start this challenge.  A nourished life is one that starts by putting ones self into a position to listen to what our God and Creator has to say.  And, we are able to stand  before our holy righteous God because of His Son, who w

Today’s news Voices In My Head. Ok I’m not crazy here, but there are very three distinct voices in my mind/head on a regular basis.  Our world especially this scientific culture that I live in would say there is something wrong with my brain.  I have heard these voices very distinct voices as far back in my life as 2 years old.  My voice, God’s voice, and the one that lies, the one that says I don’t measure up.  The one that says I need this that or the other to be happy or fulfilled.   I haven’t always understood the distinction between the voices, the reason for that is sometimes the voices sound like three or fifty voices blaring in my head at the top of their lungs screaming for my attenchen the loud ones are usually the lies it is in those times that it becomes very hard to distinguish the three voices.  My voice gets confused.   Here is the thing though, and I am not writing this from a I know it all perspective, because I don’t! I am also not writing this saying t
